The role of the District International Service Committee is to encourage and facilitate the participation of District Rotary Clubs in the implementation of International Service programs. The committee will comprise the following program co-ordinators who may co-opt Rotarians to support activities throughout the District.

RAWCS - Rotary Australia World Community Service
Registering your International project with
RAWCS has many benefits including the ability to offer donors tax deductibility for their donations, a place for all to see your project photos and understand the need as well as the solution and how they can help. RAWCS provides a crowd funding site and a donation button you can use in your social media posts to promote your project and send interested people to the crowd funding page and most importantly if your project is registered with RAWCS you can promote your project with the

Rotary Project Volunteers
RAWCS teams of 6 to 8 volunteers mainly go to South East Asia and the Pacific Island States for 2 weeks to work with the locals on building projects. Volunteer teams are made up of Rotarians and non-Rotarians, preferably with one or two building professionals or building apprentices.

Peace Fellowship
Each year, Rotary awards up to 130 fully funded fellowships for dedicated leaders from around the world to study at one of our peace centres. Through academic training, practice, and global networking opportunities, the Rotary Peace Centres program develops the capacity of peace and develops professionals or practitioners to become experienced and effective catalysts for peace. The fellowships cover tuition and fees, room and board, round-trip transportation, and all internship and field-study expenses. The Rotary Club of Moreland in our District recently supported Rotary Peace Fellow Michael Chew in his successful application. Interested? Donations in Kind (DIK)
Many goods and products, for which organisations in Australia have no further use are valuable commodities in needy countries. The DIK committee facilitates central coordination, storage, packing and dispatch leading to efficiencies in club efforts and minimum costs to get the goods where they are needed.

Disaster Aid Australia is a project of the Rotary Club of Endeavor Hills.
Rotary Friendship Exchange
Friendship Exchange is an international exchange program for Rotary members and friends that allows participants to take turns hosting one another in their homes and clubs.
Participants may travel as individuals, couples, families, or groups, and may be Rotary members or not.
The many benefits of Friendship Exchange include:

Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children (ROMAC)
ROMAC was started in 1984 by the Rotary Club of Kangaroo Flat. Its founder is PP Barrie Cooper.
The program reaches out to all children in under developed countries to bring them to Australia for medical operations that will in some cases save their lives and in other cases restore their bodies and provide them with a diginified future.

Operation Cleft
Operation Cleft is a unique Rotary project that provides free cleft repair surgery for underprivileged children in Bangladesh. Because cleft repair surgery is not covered under Bangladesh’s overburdened public health care system, thousands of children grow to adulthood with this condition untreated.

Recreational and Vocational Fellowship
Rotarians in District 9790 are encouraged to join Rotary Fellowships to link with other Rotarians nationally and internationally sharing common interest in recreational activities, sports, hobbies, or professions. These groups help expand skills, foster vocational development, and enhance the Rotary experience by exploring interests while developing connections around the world.
