| What are they doing to my phone ? | ||
Presenter Mike Davidge takes a lighthearted look at today and tomorrow's changes to our phones, what they will do for us. the way we use them and what its going to cost us. Hear the views of an independent analyst of the communication scene. "Whenever I hear the assertion that one day your mobile phone will become your computer, I can't stop laughing. It's ridiculous. The mobile-phone business is a bonanza, with huge sales (nearly a billion units were sold worldwide over the past two years) and the never-ending upgrades. In case you haven't noticed, people like to chat incessantly on the phone. That's what mobile phones are best for, even though the phone companies with their 3G and now 4G seem intent on making these pesky gadgets the most important things you'll ever own, your gateway to all your personal information and to the Internet" If you've ever heard " Like if they're that good, how come I get such a crook line ?" or "how come the old phone now cost more ? " now's the time you'll find out the answers. Good advice, a bit of a laugh, quirky stories and of view of where its all going is what you get. Mike Davidge is a founding partner of the Forward Focus Group, which consults to business on Technology, Marketing, and Innovation. After many years of senior management positions in companies as diverse as Cadbury Schweppes, ICI, and Autodesk, Mike and partners now provide insights, advice and support to a wide variety of companies, both big and small. (see them on the internet at www.onforward.com) As part of the groups pro bono outreach program, Mike is available to talk to interested groups on a number of subjects that he and the Group are familiar with. As he says, "We enjoy explaining in laymen's terms what's happening, and expected to happen, and most importantly when to duck." Mike is no stranger to the speaker's platform, speaking every year at conventions and business meeting across Australia. He says he keeps up-to-date too, not just on the technology front but also with his continuing education. Adding to a now dusty Bachelor of Economics scroll, an MBA in 1993 and Master of E-Commerce last year. Phones are not the only subject Mike can speak on - some recent popular subjects have been The Manager As Coach Now you hear it isn't sufficient to have just supervisory and management skills. A popular view is that in the "new" environment, coaching skills are an essential skill set to deliver success. To retain the brightest and the best the manager needs competence in developing people, evoking excellence and creating a culture of continuous learning. How right is this and how right for you ? How Smart People make Big Money Mistakes A walk through the lessons from the new science of behavioural economics. Learn why so many otherwise rational individuals make irrational decisions when it comes to money. See how this can be fixed or how you can improve your bargaining skills --with help from a relatively new science called behavioral economics. Or if you're interested to hear about a business related subject (but not a lecture) give Mike a call. Contact: |
