ROGER FLETCHER
"Food For People In Need"

fletcher

This is Roger Fletcher, who has finally retired at a youthful 76 after a very busy and interesting life in diverse fields in the UK and Australia and many points between.

In his business life Roger has been in banking; auto engineering design; materials handling sales; and in latter years manufacturing and marketing medical products.

In a busy business life Roger has travelled extensively throughout Europe, Scandinavia, USA South East Asia and Australia.

In the sporting field Roger has been involved in a number of areas but in latter years played representative rugby union and when that became too dangerous for his advancing years he took up sky diving.

During National Service in the UK Roger qualified as aircrew in Coastal Command and served as Air Gunner/Radar Operator/Pyrotechnician and also in-flight cook. Duty took him to such places as Gibraltar, Malta, Cyprus, France, Denmark and Ireland.

As a consequence of his experience he is a strong advocate of some form of national service as a means of providing a sense of community service, and of discipline and self worth to young adults in our community.

Outside of his family life, Roger has had a life long interest in art and crafts and became an awarded leatherworker.

Since his recent retirement Roger has become an active member of the Rotary Club of Rosanna and is involved in that Club's activities particularly in rebuilding farm fencing destroyed in the February 2009 bush fires.

His passionate interest is in the essential work of SecondBite, a not-for-profit organisation, involved in the re-distribution of otherwise wasted fresh food to the needy and disadvantaged around Victoria and recently into Tasmania.

Roger has been appointed as a presenter for SecondBite and is actively giving talks to groups large and small and as diverse as church groups, large private schools, community groups, corporations and business clubs.

Roger is an experienced speaker and delivers the SecondBite message with passion and with hands-on experience.
