Ageing is a state of mind - Ros Marsden |
||
| Ros Marsden is the current editor of Prime, a publication produced through Clemson Text & Design for The Age which focuses on the lifestyle of baby boomers and beyond. As a media consultant, writer and speaker Ros has a keen interest in ensuring that as we grow older, we embrace younger generations instead of talking about the good old days. This was part of her motivation when she created I'm Not Like Paris magazine for Fairfax, designed to encourage a positive self-image for teenage girls. The magazine won the International PANPA Award for Young Readers, 2008 and Rural Press Club of Victoria Journalism & Photography Awards - Judges' Special Award, 2008. In 2011 Ros was on the Victorian selection panel for Australian of the Year. After university Ros Marsden pursued her first loves, entertainment and writing by joining the TEN Network Melbourne. Within a couple of years she was researching and producing programs for current affairs and magazine shows, racing telecasts, award nights and telethons. She later joined the production company Crawfords working on COP SHOP until she was invited back to TEN to produce GOOD MORNING MELBOURNE and assist with their major live telecasts, including Associate Producer of the first live telecast from the Melbourne State Theatre. Ros also worked on the first live telecast of the Melbourne Cup and was the Victorian producer of the first national Olympic telethon. As a producer Ros was required to inspire a wide range of individuals from camera crews through to on-air personalities and make split-second decisions as these shows went live to air. Key to a producer's role was the need to remain positive and smiling while everything around you collapsed! Ros has worked for the book publishers Five Mile Press and Roland Harvey Studios as their publicity manager on a range of books from cooking through to Australiana and children's illustrated fiction. She created and edited LIMERICKS BY FAMOUS AUSTRALIANS, in which personalities as diverse as Bob Hawke, Gough Whitlam, Dame Joan Sutherland and Barry Humphries wrote autobiographical limericks about their own lives. Ros has also worked in the not-for-profit sector for UnitingCare promoting their work with homelessness, alcohol and drug support and aged care. From 2004-2011 Ros worked full-time at The Age and in Fairfax's regional division. She was Director of Government Advertising and also Strategic Projects Manager for The Age and has served as Advertising Manager in their regional daily newspaper in Ballarat. Ros loves the opportunity to meet senior Australians and is continually amazed by the life journeys they have experienced. She would particularly like to speak to Probus Clubs.
