The Leprosy Mission Australia |
||
The Leprosy Mission International (TLMI) is a non-denominational Christian charity which supports projects in 30 developing countries in Africa, Asia and South East Asia. Employing 2,000 staff world-wide, TLMI aims to provide holistic care to meet the physical, psychological, socio-economic and spiritual needs of those suffering from leprosy. TLMI is a member of The International Federation of Anti Leprosy Associations (ILEP) and works with the World Health Organisation, national governments and local health authorities. TLMI projects include health education, case detection, community-based rehabilitation, prevention of disabilities, vocational training, low-cost housing and interest-free (micro-credit) loans. The Leprosy Mission Australia (TLMA, a member country of TLMI) is a member of the Australian Council For Overseas Aid (ACFOA) and has been accredited by AusAid for the highest level of funding. The programmes we support not only counter the disease itself, and its attendant disabilities and deformities, but fight the injustices and isolation that are only too often the lot of people affected by this disease. The work of TLMA is to rehabilitate and empower those who, because of their association with leprosy, have lost all hope and dignity. If you would like to hear more about the fight against leprosy, please contact: Léonie Brogan Our web site can be found at http://www.leprosymission.org.au |
