| Understanding Islam | ||
The troubled relationship between Islam and the rest of the world is surely the issue of our time. What are we to make of this faith, adhered to by more than one fifth of the world's people, and what does it mean to our future? Geoff Gaff spent four years as an English teacher at Saudi Arabia's top university. The experience changed his life, and gave him an abiding interest in Islam. To satisfy his curiosity and to answer his many questions, he has read widely and deeply on Muslims, their beliefs and their history. He also takes an interest in local Muslim communities and their adjustment to life in Australia. In his talks to community groups and in the courses he runs at the University of the Third Age (U3A) Geoff shares his knowledge and insights into Islam and the Muslims. He fills in the details, adds colour drawn from his personal experience, and asks the hard questions. Geoff adapts his talks to fit the interests of his audience. They can encompass: Background
Islam today
If you would like Geoff to address your group, or for more information, * You can book Jill Koolmees and Geoff, either separately or as joint presenters, to address your group on their experience of life in the Middle East and on Islam. Their talks are free of charge. |
