Owen and Jill Weeks Jill and Owen Weeks Jill and Owen Weeks have led the way in writing and providing seminars on non -financial issues. Their award - winning books, Where to Retire In Australia and Retire Bizzi have sold thousands of copies in Australia, and around the world to expatriates and potential immigrants. Owen Weeks stepped down from running a very successful financial planning business in late 1998 and decided with his wife Jill to specialise in the provision of seminars and publications on retirement issues. Owen now runs a Melbourne based financial planning firm, Lifestyle Matters. Owen has a Commerce degree from Melbourne University as well as a Diploma of Financial Planning from Deakin University. He is a fellow of the National Institute of Accountants, a fellow of the Taxation Institute and a certified Financial Planner. He is also a registered Tax Agent. As well as being the head of a large financial planning business for 20 years, he served as chairman of the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia for two years, followed by a period of 10 years as a Federal Councillor. In 2000, he was made a Life Member of the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia. He has spoken at numerous conferences on retirement planning and Social Security issues. During the past 20 years he has advised more than 20,000 clients who either retired voluntarily, or were forced to do so because of downsizing by their employers. Many of these clients decided to retire to obscure places and they have provided some of the motivation to write Where To Retire In Australia. Owen is also the author of several other books, including Live Well Or Die Rich, The Tax Angles of Retirement, The Social Security Maze and Looking Ahead (a financial planning guide). Jill Weeks has an Arts Degree with a major in Psychology, a Diploma in Teaching, a Certificate in English as a Second Language, and a Diploma in Financial Planning. Having spent many years as a teacher, she turned towards financial planning several years ago. Jill has spoken at many seminars and conferences and has written a book, 21 Ways To Retire, which is a collection of in-depth interview with people who have already retired. The book is a very positive view of how ordinary Australians coped with retirement and all that it means. Both Owen and Jill have appeared on t.v and radio many times (e.g. The Today Show, Today Tonight, WIN T.V., 3AW, 3AK, 6PR, ABC Radio- throughout Australia) and in the printed media (e.g. The Age, BRW, Money magazine, Personal Investor, The Age, The Bulletin, Herald Sun). |
