| SEYMOUR LOSES VENUE IN FIRE | ||
Whilst the Club lost a recently purchased sound system, it was fortunate that none of their regalia and honour boards were lost as they were stored in a room that was spared destruction by fire but suffered water and smoke damage. It was believed the fire started in the kitchen with an electrical fault. The barman of the Golf Club was able to call the fire brigade as he was cleaning up in the bar area at the time but the wooden building was well and truly alight by the time they arrived. President Greg Byers has begun the process of seeking alternative venues for the Club’s weekly meeting and several neighbouring Clubs have invited the Rotary Club of Seymour to visit them. Several community groups in Seymour have offered their premises to Rotary for the weekly meeting. President Greg is keen to keep their current caterer who has recently taken over the responsibility for cooking for the weekly meeting and has impressed members by the meal being prepared. The Club has recently reached 40 members and continues its growth over the past few years. |
