This Rotary year we have received advice from the Nkwazi Rotary Club in Lusaka, of the arrival of 60 Hospital Beds, for use in the Chelston Clinic and further.

We purchased the beds almost two years ago, and failed to get a Matching Grant to help with transport. We have paid for the sea component $6000. and a simalar amount has been found via the Nkwazi Club.

These beds came from the old Women's Hospital in Melbourne. When I spoke to a Rotarian soon after the arrival, he said, they look like new beds!

We have had DIK collect the remaining 35 Hospital Beds we were holding, and they have been sent to South Africa
(Rotary Club of Balwyn) and to Sudan (Rotary Club of West Footscray)

We have collected some Spectacles for DIK which have been delivered to DIK

We have undertaken to assist The Mooroopna Historical Society to purchase the building that they occupy, and are now fundraising from the community, Local Service Clubs, Local, State & Federal Government.

The Appeal has a target of $500,000. They have a great collection and need to own their own building, as that opens up the opportunity of further grants. They were and still are at risk of being told to exit the building but now have the Contract of Sale Documents ready to sign as soon as we gain a little more funding. We are well on the way to financing this project.

We have a young Kenyan Rotarian in our Rotary Club Leakey, who would like very much to be able to help his own country. He has been on holiday back in Kenya and we asked him to research a project. The project he came back was suggested by the Kenyan Government.

This project builds large fish ponds for fish farming. This provides Employment, Food, and the profit provides for further development of Fish Farming as well as financing the building of houses.

One Farm can employ about 15 youth, and provide Fish for the Market every 6-8 months. Each year each farm would also about 6-8 homes, very Basic brick houses, but not Mud Houses which wash away with heavy rain.

We are actively investigating this project. We have already supplied local clubs, with a lot of information about the project seeking support. We understand that having a Kenyan National to assist is of great importance for he understands the people & the Country.

Our New Generations Committee has been very active.

They have funded three students to MUNA (Mini United Nations) in Canberra on Sept 6th. Brittany Anderson, Bruce Oakley, and Nathan Booth.
Another Student has been supported in her travel expenses in the Interstate Basketball in Queensland.

We have provided a bus and Driver which took 7 students plus teachers to the Tournament of the Minds in Melbourne on September 7th

It is now probable that Mooroopna Secondary College will have an Interact Club very soon, maybe a RYPEN Club and a Rotaract club is being investigated

We have just received an applicant for Rotary Youth Exchange but this will be for next years round.

Some funding has also been provided to help with the transport of a group of young singers from Mooroopna Secondary College to Melbourne

Our Car Raffle and New Years Eve Festival have have both been most successful.

Most recently we had our Fruit Salad Day which once again was a great success.

Our DG Alan & wife Dorothy were both in attendance and helped that morning. While in Mooroopna they were both shown through the Mooroopna Historical Society Museum which we expect to be owned by them soon.

Any donations for this project are welcome and attract a Tax Deduction (having DGR status) if paid to the Historical Society.

I am proud of our Rotary Club
