| The Northern Bundji Bundji Program | |||||||||
The Northern Bundji Bundji Program started two years ago and supports Aboriginal boys/young men who have been incarcerated in the Youth Justice System or are at risk of engagement in criminal activity. The program is based in Thornbury and provides intensive support to help integrate young people in their local community and help them overcome their troubles. Funding from Rotary Club of Preston will enable a new dimension to be added to the program to bring a vocational focus to the program. The grant would support around 25 Aboriginal young men over a 12 month period to help them map out their career aspirations, meet Aboriginal men who have been successful in the workforce and gain exposure to work places/career options to enable them to better understand what different jobs entail and be inspired to enter the appropriate training and employment pathway. |
