In the presence of District Governor Alan Anderson and wife Dorothy, members and guests of The Rotary Club of Euroa gathered on Friday April 8th to express appreciation for the substantial contribution Mick Peel makes to his local community. On behalf of the Rotary Club of Euroa Foundation Committee, Michael Tehan presented the following citations: Mick Peel: He works for Strathbogie Shire Council and previously for the Shire of Euroa and is one of Council's most senior and respected employees. He is always ready to do anyone a good turn. His acts of kindness especially to older people is legendary, and something we greatly admire. He is regularly called on by residents and community organisations to assist or to attend an emergencyparticularly with heavy equipment, trucks and other machinery. He is always "on call and ready to help". His community service is reflected through many years of involvement in: One thing that can be said about Mick Peel is that he is passionate. Passion is the difference between ordinary and extraordinary. He has a "yes we can" attitude and recognises the importance of looking after our community and people because it means so much to so many people. He is honest, forthright and loyal, generous to a fault, fiercely independent and believes everyone should be given a fair go. He is "a man for others"someone who has shown in his life characteristics of competence, compassion and commitment. He is an unassuming and wise man and can always be relied upon for sensible and sensitive advice. He is respected by his colleagues and has a concern for justice, fairness and the welfare of people in our community. He is a gentleman, modest, humble and unpretentious. There is no doubt that our community has been a better place for his presence and service. Congratulations and thank you Mick, you well deserve this recognition of a Paul Harris Fellow. Past President Fred Tubb PHF: To speak about P.P. Fred Tubb and especially in this company is a privilege and also a daunting task. Each of us will have particular recollections of Fred and his influence amongst us and of Fred's wisdom and the generosity with which it is shared. Fred Tubb is a legend. Frederick Henry Tubb was born in Melbourne on 6th June 1919. In 1970/71 Fred became President of the Rotary Club of Euroa Fred liked the hot rod meetings the Club had been holding for a number of years to raise funds and to enable some hot heads to let off steam with 4 events being held in his year. Fred represented the District Governor at the Charter Night of the Rotary Club of Jakarta in Indonesia. Fred has always been a great supporter of the Youth Exchange program. As Fred and Marge became annual international travellers, Fred's view of Rotary became truly international. Fred usually maintained a 100% attendance when away and he became an even stronger support of Rotary International Group Study Exchange, Youth Exchange and ambassadorial scholarships programs. Fred has always been committed to Rotary action and his answer to any Rotary request has always been "yes". On June 30, 1988, Rotarian Fred Tubb was honoured by the Euroa Club by having a Paul Harris Fellowship conferred on him at the annual change-over night by then District Governor Max Suter. His Rotary District 9790 contributionincludes serving on several District Committees and being Area Representative for the District Governor.
