| So how do you feed breakfast to 1300 hungry bike riders? |
|||||||
You start with 109 dozen eggs (double yolks of course), 162 bags of bread rolls, 1300 rashers of bacon, 7 big BBQs and 20 Rotarians… that's how.
At 5:00 am on Monday November 29th, in the Euroa Showgrounds, 20 Rotarians and partners fired up their BBQ's to cook breakfast for approximately 1300 of the 5000 riders who were taking part in the Great Victorian Bike Ride (GVBR).
Breakfast was served between 6:00 and 8:30am with each rider enjoying a bacon and egg roll.
Several Rotarians had spent hours setting up the "kitchen" the night before and come 9:00am on Monday breakfast had been served and everything was packaged away.
Organiser of the breakfast Rotarian Neil Tubb was very pleased with how the morning went. Neil said, "It was great for Rotary to join in this major event that showcased our town and our country hospitality. We had fantastic support from Kinross Farms who donated the eggs".
He went onto say, "Money raised from catering too GVBR will go towards Rotary's local community projects. Maybe next time we might include liniment and silicone refill for bike seats in the breakfast package". |
