District Governor's Visit

On 3rd August, District Governor Alan Anderson visited the Rotary Club of Diamond Creek, along with his wife Dorothy.

Alan spoke to the club and outlined his plans for the year, and his expectations for our club. Each Rotary year, the District Governor’s partner chooses a charity, for which funds are raised during the year on visits to the 61 clubs in the district.

Dorothy spoke about her chosen charity, the Victorian Children’s Music Foundation, which brings music to underprivileged children.

President Clyde presented a cheque to Dorothy for $1,000 to Dorothy on behalf of the club for her charity. Clyde presented District Governor Alan with a Geelong cap and scarf.

Induction of New President

On June 29th, outgoing President Pat Millar inducted Clyde Hulme as President of the Rotary Club of Diamond Creek for 2010-2011.

The Changeover night was attended by more than 80 Rotarians and family and friends, including the outgoing District Governor, David Cooke.

Clyde introduced his new Board members to the club, and thanked last year’s office bearers for their contributions. Clyde presented his hopes and plans for the club in the new Rotary year.

Paul Harris Fellow Presentations

A Paul Harris Fellow is a recognition named after the founder of Rotary, Paul Harris, and is awarded to both Rotarians and non-Rotarians who have made a significant contribution to Rotary.

This year, the Rotary Club of Diamond Creek awarded three Paul Harris Fellow awards at the Changeover night.

The worthy recipients are Rotarian Greg Adams, Rotarian Alan Jones, and Maureen Mackenzie, wife of Rotarian Rod. Greg is currently the club treasurer as well as Bulletin editor, while Alan has been Director of Service Projects for the past 3 years, and is now President Elect.

Maureen has been recognised for her great contributions to the club through the Town Fair since the club took over the running of the fair. Maureen organises and runs the two Showbag trailers, and has taken responsibility for the OH & S requirements.

The club takes great pleasure in recognising these three new Paul Harris Fellows, and congratulates all of them.

New Members Inducted

We have recently inducted two new members into the Rotary Club of Diamond Creek.

They are Peter Hodge and Phillip Marandaz. Peter is the husband of Rotarian Jacquie Hodge, and Peter attended the District Conference in Albury in March, and was so impressed with the many wonderful things that Rotary does, he decided to become part of it, and joined our club.

Phil was introduced to the club by Rod Mackenzie and came along to several meetings before deciding to become a member of our club.

We welcome both Peter and Phil to the club and look forward to many years of Rotary service together in the future.
