We welcomed the family of Rotarian Noel Miller to our meeting on 28th June. Noel sadly passed away on 16th April. - We were pleased to have Noel's wife Nancye, and their children and partners Paul, Dearne, Jacinta, Andrea, Andrew and Craig with us.
Past President Tim Nolan said "It is my honour to posthumously bestow on Rotarian Noel Miller a Paul Harris Sapphire Pin to recognise the tremendous amount of commitment shown by Noel in his almost 45 years of continuous service to Rotary, during which time he contributed greatly to Deniliquin Rotary and the Rotary District of 9790. Noel joined Rotary in 1965 and has exhibited a true Rotary spirit continuously since then, being involved in all manner of local Rotary projects for the benefit of our town and community, as well as the wider Rotary community at a District and International level.
Noel was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship in 1989, and I now add to that award this Sapphire Pin. It is always difficult to single out one person for recognition in an organization such as ours, as there have been many very worth and committed men and women in our Club over our 60 year history. However our Club feels it very fitting to tonight recognize Noel's sustained commitment.
The Club has recognised 23 Paul Harris Fellows and this is the first time we have awarded a Paul Harris Sapphire Pin, a very fitting award for Noel.
At this time Nancye, when you and your family are experiencing life without Noel, you can be very proud of your husband and father's selfless devotion to the wellbeing of others. Noel exemplified the Rotary motto - Service Above Self."
