The Rotary Club of Benalla are involved in 2 ongoing projects with Benalla primary and secondary school students.

Young Achiever Award

Each school term, 1 student from either year 11 or 12 is nominated for this award. The award recognises a student's academic achievements and contributions to the school community. Awardees and their parents are invited to a Rotary meeting. They receive a framed certificate of this recognition and a cheque for $100.

Junior Community Award

This program was developed by the Rotary Club of Mitchell River. Grade 6 students engage in 10 weeks of community service, 10 weeks of learning a new skill, 10 weeks of physical recreation and one off visits to a community meeting, religious/spiritual experience, cultural exchange, arts event and community commemoration event. All work is recorded in a special diary. There are currently 56 students from 5 schools involved in this project. Each school has a Rotarian as a mentor to assist the students' progress.
