Come along and enjoy an exciting day of Tractor Pulling Speedway and Motorcycle Racing whilst helping to raise money for the charity work of the Alexandra Rotary Club on December 5th 2009. Noon to 7:30pm. Alexandra is an hour and a half's drive from Melbourne via the Maroondah Hwy. The day will kick off with speedway racing heats followed by a tractor pulling at 2pm. The object of tractor pulling is simple, tractor pull committee chairman Peter Savage says. It is to pull an ever-increasing load further down a dirt track than anyone else in the same class. Spectators are in for a thrilling day and evening, Mr Savage said, with highly modified tractors and trucks, from the largest to mini tractors.
Events include juniors on modified ride-on lawn mowers pulling mini sleds. Between events, spectators can check out the highly modified tractors and have a chat with the drivers. Children will also be given the opportunity to have their photos taken with some of the competitors, tractors and race cars. "We are now on track to stage a full program of more than 30 tractor-pull events together with more than 50 laps of speedway racing on the same program," said Mr Savage. Funds raised on the day will go to Rotary Club of Alexandra community projects. Food and drinks will be available. Entry cost is $20, concession $15, family packages $50, and children under 12 free.
