Tractor Pulls have long been a feature of the rural landscape in southern Australia and the Australian Tractor Pull Association operates a number of Tractor Pulls each year in Victoria and South Australia. See their Web-Site. Rotary Clubs have also participated as Promoters of these events, Gawler`s two Clubs in South Australia featured in RDU, earlier this year.
The Rotary Club of Alexandra now has the event in conjunction with the Australian Tractor Pull Association and the Alexandra Speedway. The date is We believe Alexandra's location between Melbourne/ Wangaratta/ Shepparton/ Seymour /Bendigo etc is ideally suited to make it work.
Alexandra Speedway has embraced the project enthusiastically and provides a wonderful venue! The program will now include both tractor pull and speedway events. Gates open at 12 noon with the first event at 1pm., running through until approximately 8pm in the evening. We hope that Rotarians in District 9790 and their families will see Alexandra as a place for a great family day out on October 4th. Come along and enjoy the fun at Alexandra Speedway, commencing at 1pm. What is a Tractor Pull? To a layman, it consists of specially built Tractors, towing a Sled with a weighted mechanism, which digs the Tractor into the track, making it harder to pull. The Track is specially prepared; there are several classes of events, including Junior entries, powered by motor mower engines. Also several Speedway events. Wish us luck for a good day and a wonderful attendance. |
