New Generations off to a flying start. |
Past President of the Rotary Club of Wodonga West and Albury City Councillor Neville Hull whilst on a flight and looking through a Qantaslink magazine read with interest where Qantas had partnered with a Rotary Club to bring joy to underprivileged children and thus the dream was born.
It took Neville no time in selling the idea to the Rotary Club of Wodonga West.
As the Rotary Clubs of Albury, Albury West which is home of the current District Governor David Cooke and Wodonga West had last year combined forces to bring to the city the recent Air Show it was fitting that they again join ranks to bring to Albury/Wodonga an early Christmas for sixty local underprivileged children.
From the moment letters arrived at the local schools the excitement was very evident with incredible support from school principals and teachers.
Phones ran hot with anxious parents wanting to know final details and wishing to express their joy and thanks.
Albury manager of Qantaslink Mr. Ian Greenwood was guest of the Rotary Club of Wodonga West where he was presented with a plaque of appreciation to himself and another for Qantas.
Ian thanked President Clive Faul and announced that he could see no reason why this could not become an annual event.
