Youth Service

The role of the District 9790 Youth Service Committee is to assist in the planning, organisation and co-ordination of District Rotary Clubs in implementing Youth Service programs. It will aim to be a resource which Clubs will want to call upon.

Interact

Interact is a club for young people dedicated to service and international understanding sponsored by a Rotary Club. Membership is open to students aged between 14 and 18.

 

National Youth Science Forum (NYSF)

This committee will promote sponsorship by clubs and select suitable students from candidates nominated by clubs to attend this high achievers program.

The National Youth Science Forum provides a unique experience for some 500 of Australia's best Year 11 school students who are interested in science. Each student is exposed to the widest possible range of study and career opportunities in science, technology and engineering so that they can make an informed choice for further studies. Participants are chosen after a personal interview by the interview committee.

Rotaract

This is a service club for young adults aged between 18 and 30 for the purpose of developing leaders and service minded people and is sponsored by a Rotary Club.

 


Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA)

The RYLA programs are conducted to develop qualities of leadership, good citizenship, and personal development in young people by providing a training experience. They are tailored to youth aged between 18 and 30.

Rotary Youth Program for Enrichment (RYPEN)

RYPEN is a program of weekend seminars for young people between the ages of 14 and 17 years. Its principal aim is the communication of a series of ideas, problems and social experiences, which will assist the young participants in forming their own values and moral standards.

The Science Experience

This committee will promote sponsorship by clubs and select suitable students from candidates nominated by clubs to attend this program. Almost 3,000 places are available Australia wide at selected universities and tertiary institutions.

The Science Experience is a program that encourages students in years 9 and 10 to consider science, engineering and technology as an interesting and a worthwhile subject and career choice.

Youth Exchange

This committee co-ordinates and facilitates reciprocal 12 month secondary school exchanges between students sponsored by Rotary Clubs in the District and overseas Rotary Clubs with the objective of promoting international goodwill, peace and understanding.
