Seeking Youth Exchange Students

Much is said of nations maintaining and furthering international understanding through their official channels, but it is now clear that the real development and furthering of international cooperation occurs at the local level - through the contact of individuals around the world and their communities.

Participation in Rotary's Youth Exchange Program is a wonderful opportunity for Clubs to further international goodwill and understanding AND have a very significant role in the personal development of the youth of the world.

The program enables the student selected to spend a year of education overseas and to experience life in another culture for a year - while at the same time bringing to their host school and their host community something of their own culture.

Every decision by a Club to involve themselves in sponsoring a student to participate in youth exchange enables TWO students to benefit from the program - the student who goes out from District 9790 AND the student who comes into our District.

The District Youth Exchange Committee commence the selection process every year in approximately April, culminating in District interviews around June of each year. Clubs should be also begin the process of seeking nominations for particpants by the end of March.

A full information package is available from the District Youth Exchange Secretary, who will contact Clubs individually. The package may include new promotional brochures, new posters and a promotional DVD.
