Invitation to Participate
This is the time of year when District 9790 Rotary Clubs are requested to
make a decision regarding their participation in the
Youth Exchange Program during 2013.

With this in mind I have included a Notification of Participation Form for the year 2013. This form is your acknowledgement to sponsor OR not to sponsor a student from January 2013 and to host a student in return. This student, depending on the country of origin, may commence the 12 month period of exchange either in January or July/August of the same year for practical reasons.

If your Club decides to sponsor a student for the 2013 Exchange Year, then it must be involved in the interview process during the first half of 2012. Please note there is a recommended time line, with advertising for students during February/March/early April, interviews of prospective students during March/April/early May, and notification to myself mid May. This is so interview times for the District Interview Day on Saturday 2nd June can be arranged.

Please return the Participation Form - not later than 28th February - indicating whether your Club wishes to be involved during 2013. When I receive your participation form, I will forward to you the Youth Exchange Kit which contains all the information necessary for the Program, including Preliminary Application Forms and Press Release proforma. This information will assist you to advertise in your own area for prospective exchange students. I will also be able to forward to you application forms I have already received via the website from students in your area.

N.B. The age requirement for an Outbound student is to be either 15 or 16 years old on 1st January of the year he/she departs (2013)

If your Club seeks further information about the Youth Exchange Program, the Chairman, Graeme Budd, or any of the Youth Exchange Committee members are available for advice and/or to speak to your Club at a convenient time. Committee Members names and contact details are available in the District Directory or on the website.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours in Rotary
Margaret Brown
Secretary
D9790 Youth Exchange Committee
