The Paul Harris Society is a special district recognition program designed for Rotarians who wish to support The Rotary Foundation in a more substantial way each year.

The Paul Harris Society recognizes Rotarians and friends of The Rotary Foundation who annually contribute US$1,000 or more to the Annual Programs Fund, PolioPlus, and PolioPlus Partners, or the Humanitarian Grants program.

Joining the District 9790 Paul Harris Society is a great opportunity to grow your membership of Rotary in a tangible way, by contributing to our charity The Rotary Foundation, which is a special way of "Doing Good in the World"!

The Benefits!
The Paul Harris Society is a way to enhance and increase Annual Programs Fund support in our district.
Annual giving is a key component by which Rotarians can fulfill their commitment to international service. Increased annual giving also means additional district funds become available to support local and district driven projects through District Designated Funds (DDF).

Most large charities recognize different levels of annual giving. Until the official adoption of the Paul Harris Society, The Rotary Foundation only recognized Rotary Foundation Sustaining Member contributions as an annual recognition. The Paul Harris Society creates a new recognition level for those Rotarians who have the capacity and the desire to make a significant gift to The Rotary Foundation each year.

Donations
Should you wish to accept my invitation, please complete the attached form, to donate AUD$1,020 (US$1000) to The Rotary Foundation, and forward it to the District Secretary.
Your donation is tax deductible when made payable to "The Australian Rotary Foundation Trust".

The Society will continue to meet annually at a suitable venue.

Charter Dinner
On Friday 11th February, 2011, our District held its Paul Harris Society Charter Dinner at Rafferty's Restaurant in Benalla. District Governor Alan Anderson and Dorothy welcomed everyone, including the special guest speaker, Past Rotary International President Bill Boyd, who flew in from New Zealand that afternoon to induct the new members. Bill gave an inspirational address describing many and varied projects around the world he has witnessed that have benefitted from our charity - The Rotary Foundation. Thirteen Charter Members were inducted and they all enjoyed receiving their Paul Harris Society wings and Certificate, personally signed by Bill and The Convenor of the Charter Dinner PDG Don Cox, who provided the following overview in his welcome address to members:
  • The Paul Harris Socety (PHS) is a special recognition program for Rotarians and friends of The Rotary Foundation who annually contribute US$1,000, or more, to The Rotary Foundation for the Annual Programs Fund, PolioPlus, or the Humanitarians Grants program.
  • The Trustees of the Rotary Foundation officially approved the Paul Harris Society as a district administered recognition program effective from 1st July, 2006.
  • Districts with established Paul Harris Societies are finding that contributions from their PHS members can constitute 10% - 20% of their total annual giving. Therefore having an active Paul Harris Society can ensure long-term growth in annual per capita contributions and secure more funds coming back to our District for projects.
