November is
Foundation Month

Every Rotarian, every project and every contribution makes a difference every year.

When making presentations at club and district events, focus on the importance of goal achievement in helping the Foundation meet and exceed its program obligations.

Ideally, most clubs should be on target to achieve 33% of their Annual Programs Fund goal by 30 November 2008.

Informing Rotarians on the importance of annual giving is critical to providing Foundation programs, especially this year with the additional efforts to secure significant contributions to PolioPlus toward Rotary's US$100 Million Challenge.

Encourage individual Rotarians to make a personal contribution to the Annual Programs Fund and ask clubs to fulfill their obligations to the Challenge effort. Remind all Rotarians that contributions to PolioPlus do not count toward the club's annual giving goals.

During November, work with your Zone Team to accomplish the following:

button EVERY ROTARIAN, EVERY YEAR: Make your own commitment to the Annual Programs Fund to Make a Difference in the Worldand encourage others to do the same.
button BE A GUEST SPEAKER: Remind your District Governors and Foundation Chairs that you and your zone team are available to speak at Rotary seminars and other programs in honor of Foundation month. Encourage Foundation Alumni to be active in your zones.
button CLUB PROGRAMS: Every club in your districts should hold at least one club program on the Foundation during November. The Foundation has many resources available online for clubs and individual Rotarians to learn more about their Rotary Foundation.
button NON-CONTRIBUTING CLUBS: Ask those clubs who have not made contributions to the Foundation to make a gift in November. Some of these clubs may be new and may have not heard about the good works of the Foundation. As of 30 June 2008, a total of 7,168 clubs did not contribute to the Foundation. As that represents 21.6 percent of clubs worldwide, if we can work together to increase Rotarian participation and reduce the number of non-contributing clubs, we would see substantial growth to our Annual Programs Fund
button RECOGNITION: Ask clubs to recognize Paul Harris Fellows and Rotary Foundation Sustaining Members during this month and encourage others to participate in Foundation programs. Better yet, encourage districts to start or enhance their Paul Harris Society!
button PUBLICITY: Publicize the great works of the Foundation in local papers by highlighting newsworthy programs that your districts have supported such as Matching Grants or Group Study Exchange Teams.
button GOALS: The worldwide Annual Programs Fund goal for 2008-2009 is US$125,000,000. If Every Rotarian participated Every Year, our goal would be easily achieved! Think of all the good that it would bring to the world.
button FOURTH AVENUE OF SERVICE: Remind Rotarians that their contributions to the Annual Programs Fund provide them with the opportunity to fulfill their 4th Avenue of International Service by helping others.

Last year was a record year for contributing to our Foundation with US$114.8 million and a US$95.13 per capita to the Annual Programs Fund. Let us keep the momentum going and work to achieve our US$125,000,000 worldwide Annual Programs Fund Goal for 2008-2009 and achieve the US$100 per capita for the first time in our Foundation's history.

Ambassadorial Scholar 2009 - 2010

The DG Peter Gilbert and Foundation Committee interviewed a scholar from Bright. Her name is Tarne Naomi Barry and she is a chef working in Bright. The scholar was sponsored by the R.C of Bright. Her preference of studies would be in France or in Italy. The nomination has gone to Rotary International and at present we are waiting for a decision from R.I.
