Every day, Rotary clubs work with local governments, businesses, and other organizations to help people and communities at home and abroad. In this spirit, the RI External Relations Best Cooperative Projects Award honors clubs that conduct outstanding projects in cooperation with other local, national, or international organizations. Here are some examples of previous award winners: The Rotary Club of Chalisgaon Milk City, Maharashtra, India, partnered with a local social service organization to provide nutritional supplements and monthly medical exams to 108 malnourished children in nearby villages. As a result, all the children survived, and 90 completely recovered within one year. The Rotary Club of Legazpi, Albay, Philippines, collaborated with UNICEF, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, the European Commission Humanitarian Aid Office, and the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development to construct and renovate restroom facilities in 28 public schools. The schools serve as community evacuation centers during natural disasters. The Rotary Club of Spokane-West, Washington, USA, joined with the local chapter of Second Harvest (now Feeding America), a food bank and redistribution center, and Green Bluff Growers, a cooperative of local orchards, to collect surplus fruit from nearby commercial orchards and homeowners with fruit trees. The fruit was donated to local food banks. Clubs must submit applications to the district governor by 15th March each year, and district governors must send applications to RI headquarters in Evanston, Illinois, USA, by 15th April each year.
