We need your Club’s financial help to make a difference to drought stricken farmers in the Goulburn Valley.
The Rotary Club of Shepparton South is raising funds to finance the distribution of seed vouchers to financially stressed farmers to provide much needed green feed for stock once the rain comes this April!
Shepparton South is contributing $10,000 to kick the project off. $10,000 will finance 50 seed vouchers. Each $200 seed voucher will produce 25,000 kilograms of dry matter per hectare, which in layman terms is 1,500 cow grazing days i.e., 15 days for 100 milking cows or 30 days for 100 dry cows.
Our aim:
With your Club’s assistance we are looking to raise $100,000 which will finance 500 $200 seed vouchers. This money will provide 750,000 cow grazing days which will have a tremendous impact on animal health and save many primary producers from going over the brink.
How can you contribute?
Please click here the form which you can print off, complete and mail to the Rotary Club of Shepparton South Inc. Please do not delay. Every day you wait makes survival that much harder for our disadvantaged farmers.
Who gets the seed vouchers?
Distribution is always a contentious issue so we have decided to use the Rural Counselor network employed by Local Government to identify those individuals most in need of help.
Seed Vouchers will be posted to recipients who will redeem them from local seed merchants participating in the project. Each voucher will be consecutively numbered and signed by our treasurer. Merchants will forward the vouchers and invoice to club for payment.
Voucher design will be simple with acknowledgement for all those coming on board with the project. I hope your club will dig deep and get behind this exciting project which will make a difference when the chips are down in rural Victoria.
