Community Service Projects

Preamble:
DG John Gatt has requested that all Clubs adopt the Club Leadership Plan when undertaking their various Club projects and Community Service is a very important cog in this Plan.

The Five Points of conducting a Successful Project:
1. Assessing Projects.
You and your committee should discuss the current projects and any new ones.
2. Selecting a Project:

• Is it of benefit to the Community.
• Will it create goodwill.
• Is it sustainable.
• What is the cost, financial and manpower.
3. Planning:

• Assign a project to each team member. (Don't do it all yourself)
• Choosing a date to undertake your project - make sure it does not clash with other Club projects.
Remember - Forward Planning.
4. Activating the Project:
Brief your Club members involved in the project preferably at the Club meeting preceding the project day. Ensure you have all the required materials and equipment.
5. Evaluation Debriefing:
Was it successful does it require fine tuning ? Try and do this as soon as possible whilst memories are still fresh.

Conclusion

Advertise that it is a Rotary project - good publicity - it can also be a source for attracting new members.
If you come across a good project that you would like to share with other Clubs, email the details to the District Community Chair and it will be passed onto the other Clubs.
Consider doing a joint project with a neighbouring Club. This will allow for more finances and additional manpower to take on bigger projects.
Club projects are a great source of fellowship and it is also a good avenue to become acquainted with new members. Consider having a barbecue or having a few beers after the work is done.
