The Rotary Foundation is one of the largest foundations in the world. It is Rotary's own charitable fund. Annual contributions to the Foundation are invested for three years and the income earned from these investments pays for all the Foundation's operations, fund administration and administrative expenses. Every annual giving dollar contributed to the Foundation is available for its programs approximately three years later. Between the years 1947 and 2010 approximately US$1.75 billion has been spent on the Foundation's programs. The Trustees of the fund developed what they call the SHARE system to all districts a voice in how contributions are spent and to allow districts to participate in the programs that are of the most interest to them. Under the SHARE system, all district's annual giving is totalled up at the end of the contribution year and is divided into two funds: 50% is credited to the District Designated Fund (DDF) and the remaining 50% is credited to the World Fund (WF). Each district may then use the DDF monies which they collected three years before, for any programs they wish to choose, such as humanitarian grants, additional GSE and other programs. The WF pays for the programs which are free to every district, such as one group Study Exchange program per year, Matching Grants (Matching dollar for dollar for approved projects combining two countries), District Simplified Grants and so on. The mission of the Foundation is to support the efforts of Rotary International to achieve world understanding and peace through international humanitarian, educational culture exchange programs. The alumni is an association of former leaders and members of GSE teams, ambassadorial scholars, Rotary Volunteers and university teachers who were sponsored by the Foundation to teach in developing countries. They are also a great resource for guest speakers and assisting applicants for GSE and Scholarships. |

| Every Rotarian, Every Year (EREY) | |||
Your contribution to Annual Giving, Permanent Fund, and Centurion Program supports both local and global projects identified by Rotarians around the world. Rotary International suggests that each member donates US$100 each year. When you make an annual contribution to The Rotary Foundation, you can be confident that 50 percent of that gift will come right back to your district in three years to be used for educational and humanitarian programs and for projects in your local community. The other portion of your contribution benefits the World Fund in support of our commitment to international service. The three-year SHARE investment cycle ensures that 100 percent of your contribution is spent on Rotary programs and grants. There are thousands of charitable organizations working throughout the world that make a positive impact on those in need. But The Rotary Foundation is the only charitable organization funded by contributions from Rotarians, for programs and projects identified by Rotarians, and administered by Rotarians at the project site. | Every Rotarian Every Year (EREY) Information | |||
| Group Study Exchange (GSE) | |||
GSE is a cultural and vocational exchange with a District of another country. The GSE enables our district to send out every year a team of four young -non-Rotarian business and professional people to a District in a country outside Australia for a 4 to 6 weeks exchange. The team is led by an experienced Rotarian, selected from nominations put forward by Clubs in District 9790. The district to which the team is sent is responsible for hosting the team members in homes of Rotarians, their travel and accommodation expenses during the exchange and to arrange a series of vocational visits for each team member, which is relevant to their particular vocations. The team is also introduced to significant institutions within the host District. Team members and team leader are considered to be ambassadors for their country. District 9790 will also be hosting a team from a District outside of Australia. |

| Matching Grants | |||
Matching Grant Programs are intended to assist a community in need through an International Service project carried out in cooperation with Rotarians from a district in another country. It is expected there will be active participation of Rotarians in both the sponsor and project site countries. A significant portion of contributions to the project must come from outside the project country. Matching Grants are between US$5,000 and US$200,000. Both the international and host sponsors must work together to prepare and submit interim and final reports. Sponsors are required to submit an interim report every 6 months for the life of the project and a final report within two months of completing the project. The Rotary Foundation will match contributions to the project between 50c and $1 for every dollar contributed, depending on type of matching grants All applications for matching grants must be submitted through this committee. | Polio Plus | |||
Rotarians are making the end of Polio more than just a dream… they are ensuring that two billion children have been immunized and five million have been spared death or disability. In the push to finish Polio, Rotarians are pressing ahead with Rotary’s US$100 Million Challenge to match the $100 million grant received from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The nearly 33,000 Rotary Clubs in the world are each being asked to contribute at least $1,000 annually for three years. Your support is required to eradicate Polio. | The Paul Harris Society | |||
| • The Paul Harris Society (PHS) is a special recognition program for Rotarians and friends of The Rotary Foundation who annually contribute US$1,000 or more to The Rotary Foundation for the Annual Programs Fund, PolioPlus, or the Humanitarians Grants program. •The Trustees of the Rotary Foundation officially approved the Paul Harris Society as a district-administered recognition program effective from 1 July, 2006. • Districts with established Paul Harris Societies are finding that contributions from their PHS members can constitute 10% - 20% of their total annual giving. Therefore having an active Paul Harris Society can ensure long-term growth in annual per capita contributions and secure more funds coming back to our District for projects. |

| World Peace & Ambassadorial Scholarships | |||
Each year, Rotary will select 60 scholars to study at one of the seven Rotary centres worldwide. These Rotary World Peace Scholars will begin two-year master's level degree programs in conflict resolutions, peace studies, and international relations.
