The role of the District International Service Committee is to encourage and facilitate the participation of District Rotary Clubs in the implementation of International Service programs. The committee will comprise the following program co-ordinators who may co-opt Rotarians to support activities throughout the District.
Rotary Australia World Community Service Ltd (RAWCS) assists Rotary Clubs to develop and manage world community service projects. District 9790 Clubs are active in supporting developing countries in our region in the fields of Health, Education, Water and Sanitation and other infrastructure and Humanitarian Aid programmes through financial
support and/or hands-on participation. RAWCS facilitates the work of Clubs and their members, through coordination with AusAID, travel and insurance arrangements (tax deductable) and DFAT.
The District RAWCS coordinator facilitates information on RAWCS projects and processes to D9790 Clubs and represents the District at RAWCS Southern Region.

| Donations in Kind |
Many goods and products, for which organisations in Australia have no further use, are valuable commodities in needy countries. The DIK committee facilitates central coordination, storage, packing and dispatch leading to efficiencies in Club efforts and minimum costs to get the goods where they are needed.

From less than $100 for a year’s education for a single child to tens of thousands for a whole school.
RFPD projects can be from $100 to many thousands. It is up to the individual club- every little helps.

| Safe Sanitation and Water Save Lives |
| The objectives of the Safe Sanitation and Water Save Lives projects are
achieved by Rotarians helping the community involved to provide clean
water for drinking and other purposes. This is done by the provision
of a planned system of water catchments, storage and retention, coupled
with education and training in water systems, tank construction, and
maintenance and hygiene and health programs. Clubs can assist by contributing
to the cost of providing and shipping tanks to selected locations and
through members of their clubs joining or sponsoring non-Rotarians on
project teams to work as volunteers. |
