5th August 2011 - Disaster Relief in the Philippines
 

Aquabox (Australia), a project of the Rotary Club of Eltham District 9790, is responding to an urgent request from Rotary International District 3820 (Philippines) to provide assistance for the victims of recent floods caused by typhoon rains in the Southern Luzon Region.

The region is a 10 hour drive from Manila where many thousands of people have lost their homes and livelihood and are now seeking refuge in disaster relief areas.

Arrangements are currently being made to dispatch 108 Aquaboxes from Australia to the flood affected areas as soon as possible. Distribution of the Aquaboxes, valued at over $52,000, will be undertaken in partnership between Rotary and the Red Cross in the Philippines.
