| Global Alumni Service to Humanity Award |
| Introduction |
Eligible Nominees Currently all Foundation alumni are eligible, viz; former Scholars, Group Study Exchange team members, and recipients of Discovery Grants, University Teacher Grants or grants for Rotary Volunteers. Each Rotary District is allowed only one nomination. Selection Process The Rotary Foundation Trustees will make their selection at a regularly scheduled meeting, usually around October/November and the award will be presented at a significant Foundation event. The successful candidate must accept the award in person, and it will not be made posthumously. Additional Information Further information on the award may be found on Rotary's
web-site. For your additional information, Australia has already been
successful with two nominees over recent years: Conclusion All clubs are strongly encouraged to participate in this Award programme.
It gives clubs a valid and meaningful reason to re-establish contact with
past Alumni and recognise their contribution to humanity, and allows clubs
to re-affirm an association with their Alumni which is still being maintained.
This programme also gives clubs the chance to canvass past Alumni to ascertain
if the opportunity is there to bring them into Rotary as members. Information will be passed on as soon as details are received from Rotary International. Please do not overlook the deadline for submission of nominations. This must be observed so as to give District the opportunity to properly review your nominations and pass our recommendation on to RI in Evanston. Contact: |

| Nominations for the Global Alumni Service to Humanity Award |
This Rotary year, The Rotary Foundation is seeking nominations from Districts for the 2009-2010 Global Alumni Service to Humanity Award. District is actively involved in seeking to nominate an Alumnus who has been connected with their club. The winners from each Rotary zone form the pool of candidates from which the global winner for the Foundation’s highest honor is selected. The global winner will be chosen by the Rotary Foundation Trustees at their January meeting and the award will be presented at the RI Convention each year. As applications must be with The Rotary Foundation in Evanston, USA by no later than 29th December each year, I ask that clubs get the applications to me by no later than 9th December in that year. The application process can take some time, so Clubs are encouraged to review their records and get started as soon as practicable. Should any clubs be aware of a potential candidate, but not be sure of a contact address, please email me at alumni@rotary9790.org.au and I will endeavour to assist by referring to the District's Alumni database.
