| 'WHEN THE COUNTRYSIDE COMES TO THE CITY' | ||||||||||
|
In 2012, for the first time in many years, district Conference will be held in an urban setting. There will be much that is familiar, but some innovations. For the sporting minded there will be a day of activities and a Sportsman's Dinner on the Thursday. The Opening Ceremony on Friday will be a more public event aimed at informing the race going public of our conference and of the 'Rotary Expo' which will be open to them to showcase Rotary activities and our sponsors' products On the Saturday we will run workshops that will give a choice of topics and the opportunity to discuss ideas with Rotarians of similar interests and to 'question the experts'. Of course there will be some fine guest speakers and Rotary projects,. Sunday will start with a 'Rotary Trot' in the tradition of Rotary International Conventions to raise funds for a Rotary cause. This will start the day at the venue leaving plenty of time to attend the earliest Plenary session. All the District Conference activities will be there, with time to network in the fine facilities of this excellent venue and to enjoy the displays in the 'Rotary Expo' lounge We hope that city clubs will take up the idea of 'Home Hosting, perhaps forming some lasting bonds with country clubs. |
