Rotary brings families
and footy together
Drought affect families from the district and surrounding towns attended the North Melbourne vs Port Adelaide, MCG 30th August 2008.
The project was organized and supported by Rotary Clubs of Whitehorse Cluster and Benalla. Participants were transported by bus and were joined by Rotarians from Whitehorse and Benalla Clubs.
Despite the bad weather, 57 parents and children enjoyed the footy and afterwards dined at McDonalds before returning home. Top

Rowena awarded Paul Harris Fellowship
Local Benalla Rotarian, Rowena Mann was presented with the prestigious Paul Harris Fellowship Award by President Neil Smith, September 18 2008 meeting held at Rafferty's Receptions.
Rowena is Medical Practitioner in a Wangaratta Medical Practice; she is a mother of two children, Jack and Jeremy. Rowena in her spare time is an accomplished flute and piano player.
Her Rotary involvement has included membership on various 9790 District Committees, Rotarians Against Malaria, Rotary Youth Exchange Program and Group Study Exchange Team Leader. Rowena has supported many club projects in particular the Portsea Camp. Top

Hannah Rees Receives
Rotary August 2008 Award
Benalla Rotarian's Helen Ellis and President Neil Smith presented the August Young Achievers Award to Hannah Rees of Benalla. Hannah is a student of Benalla FCJ College.
Helen is considered by her peers and her instructors to be an outstanding student and a role model. Helen has been successful in gaining a Kwong, Lee, Daw, Young scholarship which will assist her with studies at University. Top |

Rotarians Leading the Way
Benalla Rotarian's Sally Mathieson (Secretary) and fellow members Leo Ginnivan, Bob Borschman, Peter Mathieson and Darren Best lead the way for Rotarians practice ride from Ascot Court on Saturday.
Benalla Rotarians will be leaving there cars home and riding their bikes to attend Thursday 16 October meeting held at Rafferty's Restaurant in a bid to support the ride to work day event.
Rotarians will be supporting the Bike Victoria's ride to work day, promoting healthy exercise and reducing pollution. It is hoped that a large number of Benalla people will also participate on ride to work day Wednesday October 15 and continue to ride to work. |

Rotary Clubs work together
An innovative drought relief project was launched in Benalla, October 19, 2008, where country and city rotary clubs worked together to provide support for residents experiencing economic and social challenges from the prolonged drought.
The family fun day was part of the Stonnington Cares Project that aims to highlight that city people do care for drought affected rural communities. The project united five Melbourne based Rotary Clubs with the Rotary Club of Benalla, City of Stonnington and Benalla Rural City and was funded by the Rotary Clubs of Benalla, Prahan, St Kilda, Toorak, Chadstone / East Malvern. |
