Polly Platypus is a children’s book about Polly being happy with who she is and what she is. She is a Tasmanian Platypus. It is a very gentle story which gives lots of information about the platypus with clear and informative illustrations. It was written with pre-school and lower primary children in mind, but according to the feed back that has been received, it appeals to a much wider audience. Polly’s aim is to educate all, that it is OK to be happy with your self. The author Catherine said "We chose the Tasmanian Platypus as the subject because, unlike the mainland platypus, it is not at all nervous about being observed by humans. We wanted the book to be educational because most children seem to be very interested in learning, and few people seemed to know much about the platypus. Most important of all though, I felt that an important psychological lesson could be worked in for the children." On sale as a project of the Rotary Club of Wangaratta |
