The role of the district International Service Committee is to assist in the planning, organization and co-ordination of District Rotary Clubs in implementing International Service programs. It will aim to be a resource which clubs will want to call upon. Its role is to investigate and promote suitable international projects for clubs and to ensure the efficient utilization of District 9790 resources. It is important that goods, which clubs provide, are needed and can be supplied to the appropriate country involved. Central coordination, storage, packing and dispatch lead to efficiencies in club efforts and minimum costs to get the goods where they are needed. This is done by the provision of a planned system of water catchments, storage and retention, coupled with education and training in water systems, tank construction, and maintenance and hygiene and health programs. Clubs can assist by contributing to the cost of providing and shipping tanks to selected locations and through members of their clubs joining or sponsoring non-Rotarians on project teams to work as volunteers. Co-ordinator PP Colin McKenzie (Joan) Rotarians Against Malaria (RAM) RAM's major objective is to minimize the death and suffering caused by malaria Co-ordinator Pat Millar Committee PP Lanny De Almeida (Beryl) Friendship Exchange The Rotary Friendship Exchange committee will coordinate exchanges between Rotarians in a number of countries. Co-ordinator PP Syd Lukins (Sue) Committee PP Laurie Fagan (Ann) PP Ian Christian (Liz) PP Ron Haberfield (Barbara) PP David Dow (Jenny) Recreational and Vocational Fellowships Rotarians sharing a common recreational/vocational interest, such as cricket, flying, sailing, golf, amateur radio, philately, chess etc, can establish contact and pursue their hobbies and recreational interest on a worldwide basis. Co-ordinator PP Ian Musgrove (Melody) Online information - visit Rotary International website Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children (ROMAC): ROMAC was commenced in 1984 by the Rotary Club of Kangaroo Flat. Its founder is Past President Barrie Cooper. The program reaches out to all children in under developed countries to bring them to Australia for medical operations that will in some cases save their lives and in other cases restore their bodies and provide them with a dignified future. It is a recognized Rotary International Multi District Program of Australian and New Zealand districts.
